tips for racing

The Champagne Stakes

The Champagne Stakes takes place this Saturday at Doncaster which is going to be one hotly contested race. This race features eight two-year olds who will all be competing to take home the title. Perhaps the biggest name from all the horses competing this week will be Hey Gaman; recent winner of the Listed Denford Stakes at Newbury. With a big win and form on his side he’s tipped by many to be the favourite entering this race.

Running alongside Hey Gaman will be New Approach, a horse which has made six starts already at such a young age. Dream today will also be entering this race making his first appearance in a group two category after his impressive debut win in York. Fourth on the roster is Simon Crisford Red Mist, who was only narrowly beaten out by Hey Gaman in their last race and so will be looking to exact revenge.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien’s backed a horse in the race

Aiden O’Brien has embarked on a mission to leave a serious imprint this week at Doncaster and so he has two runners in this race. They are Mendelssohn and Seahenge, the latter who came fifth to Expert Eye in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood.

Runner number seven comes in the form of Mythical Magic; a horse which trainer Charlie Appleby is hoping will take down this race. Mythical Magic is coming off the back of an unbeaten record at Deauville last month too.

The final entry for this race comes from Clive Cox’s camp who will also be putting two horses in the race. These two are Grand Koonta and Heather Main’s Island Sound.

So as you can see it’s going to be a hotly contested race with just about every horse being in with a reasonable shout at the win. So make sure you don’t miss out on this incredible race taking place this Saturday at Doncaster!
