Roscommon Racecourse is a racecourse which can be found in the county town of Roscommon which we offer racing tips for, county Roscommon, Ireland. Roscommon Racecourse meets at a junction of three of the country’s major motorways making it easily accessible. The fact Roscommon is situated in the centre of Ireland only helps this even further. Roscommon Racecourse holds a lot of history in Irish racing given racing there unofficially began in 1837. Racing has continued at the racecourse there ever since except for for a 12 year hiatus around the time of world war two.

Roscommon Racecourse offers up both flat racing and jump racing throughout the year. Races at Roscommon Racecourse are done along a right handed track which is around one mile two furlongs in length. Towards the end of the track there is an uphill sprint to finish off the race. This is fairly common with racing tracks around Ireland.

Notable races

Roscommon Racecourse doesn’t see all that many notable races going on throughout the year. In fact, Roscommon Racecourse only holds one real race that can be considered noteworthy. This is the Kilbegnet Novice Chase which is a chase race for grade three horses aged four years or older. This is over a distance of two miles and is always ran during the month of September.

While there may not be too many races of notoriety at Roscommon Racecourse: this doesn’t stop the venue hosting fantastic events. It is only recently that Roscommon Racecourse has renovated their facilities. This has meant that everything here is state of the art offering nothing but the best services. These services include multiple bars as well as a buffet restaurant.
