About Tipperary Racecourse

Tipperary Racecourse is a racecourse which is situated just a couple miles North of the town of Tipperary; county Tipperary, Ireland. This lies in the centre of the N24 which is the major road connecting Limerick to Waterford. This has meant there’s easy access to Tipperary Racecourse from both cities; which in turn has made it an incredibly popular venue each time race day rolls around.

While it may not be the oldest racecourse in the area; Tipperary Racecourse has been hosting races as far back as 1848. However it was in 1916 when the course changed its location to where it is now.

The track at Tipperary Racecourse offers both national hunt and flat racing; similar to most other venues in Ireland. The track is run by horses left handed and covers a distance of one mile and two furlongs. This includes a five furlong sprint which joins the main racecourse at the start of the sprint.

Notable races

There are a few races of notoriety which are run each year at Tipperary Racecourse. Most of these races will take place in October. They will however include a mix of flat; hurdle, and chase races each at either group two or group three.

Of these races the one which really stands out is the Tipperary Hurdle. This is the one grade two race which takes place at Tipperary Racecourse every year. The distance of this race is two miles and it’s a hurdle race for horses which are aged four or older.

Due to its location Tipperary Racecourse will always be a hotbed of activity for both trainers and spectators alike. However the facilities on offer at Tipperary Racecourse leave nothing to be desired which makes it a fantastic location for a day out on its own right. These facilities include multiple bars, a high dining room, along with a self serving restaurant as well!
